Some photoshoot locations work ideally at any time of the year. Old Sacramento, located in Northern California, is one of them.
For this senior photoshoot, we wanted to choose a location that is a bit city, a bit rustic, or in between. Old Sacramento area is just that – a perfect combination of the old town with a rustic touch.

Old Sacramento is one of the favorite location spots picked out by our seniors. Easy access from Highway 5 and Highway I-80 makes it a convenient location for people coming from different parts of the city.
Many old town buildings, brick walls, cobblestone streets, and unique antique shops make up Old Sacramento. This location is ideal for creative senior pictures for both guys and girls.

BEST TIME TO TAKE PICTURES AT OLD SACRAMENTO
If you are wondering what season is best for taking pictures in Old Sacramento, I would say each season brings in its uniqueness. In springtime, there’s more greenery, and the weather is warm but not as hot as in the summer.
During the fall time, the sun won’t be as bright, and you can find beautiful golden trees in the area. Winter-time photos in Old Sacramento can be a great time as well. Photographers’ all-time favorite time to shoot is around sunset time. This is when the light is super soft and adds a beautiful glow to the pictures. Natural light portraits are the all-time favorite by both senior girls and guys.
Old Sacramento gets pretty busy on weekends, so for a photoshoot, it’s best to go here on a weekday. Parking can be an issue here on the weekends, and we strongly suggest our clients to schedule their session on a weekday.
ABOUT THE SESSION
The senior photo shoot with Sarrah took place on a summer afternoon a few hours before sunset. She came prepared with a few of her favorite outfits and shoes, as well as a great mood! We had created a mood board of ideas for this session, which was a great inspiration guide.

We started photo shooting in an alley that has a brick building wall on one side, and a wall covered with greenery on the other side. The lighting was really amazing that day, and we were taking advantage of the soft sunset light.
During every Sacramento senior photography session, we strive to take a variety of full-height shots as well as close-up portraits. This gives a chance to capture more of the high school senior’s personality and inner beauty.
After taking a lot of pictures in different outfits and multiple locations at Old Sacramento – we knew there would be enough photos to choose for an album. Sarrah’s positive attitude and fun personality made this photo session a truly successful experience!
