The trees and the freshly grown grass, in addition to the fresh air, create the perfect atmosphere for amazing photos.
The Gibson Ranch Park not only offers greenery, but they also have a horse ranch with some unique rustic buildings. There is a fishing pond right in the middle of the territory, as well as plenty of open field spots. All this diversity creates gorgeous backgrounds for family sessions, children photography, and senior portraits.

ABOUT THE SESSION
“My daughter is turning four, and she has a dream to have a fairytale photo session with a pony….” With these words, Daniella’s mom contacted Bidun Photography Studio. After meeting up with the mom in our Sacramento fine art portrait studio, we learned that mom wanted to have a special photography session for her favorite little girl.
We talked through many ideas together, discussed outfits and accessories for children portrait photography. Gibson Ranch Park was chosen as the main location of the photoshoot.

FINDING THE PERFECT PONY
Finally, most of the photoshoot details have been finalized. The only thing left was to find the perfect pony at a local ranch. Both the photographer and parent did a lot of research. We were looking for a pony that would be suitable for a 4-year-old birthday girl, and finally found the perfect pony at an ideal location!
JB Ranch is located only 20 miles away from downtown Sacramento, in the Elverta area. The JB Ranch and Gibson Ranch Park were two convenient locations for our birthday girl photo session, as they are only a couple of miles away from each other.
The ranch offers a wide variety of spots for portrait photography with their horses and ponies, horseback lessons, trail rides, as well as pony rides for family birthday parties. GIBSON RANCH PARK LOCATION
When the day of the portrait photo session arrived, we started the birthday girl photoshoot at Gibson Ranch Park first. As Sacramento premier children photographer, we knew how important it is to have relaxed time during the portrait shoot. We planned to take carefree portraits at Gibson Ranch park first, before going for the super creative photos with the pony.
Gibson Ranch Park is one of Northern California’s famous family destinations and spreads on 325 acres of pristine natural countryside in the Elverta area. Gibson Ranch is an incredible natural resource park. It offers a world of fun and relaxation in a gorgeous natural setting. We figured it would be the perfect children photography location to start our session.

START OF THE PHOTO SESSION
Daniella and her mom came exceptionally prepared for this photo session, with lots of unique personalized outfits and headpieces. Mom Natasha is a talented artist and makes unique and beautiful hair accessories and flower crowns for her daughter, as you can see throughout this photo gallery.
The carefree portrait photo session at Gibson Ranch Park was an excellent warm-up for our little birthday girl, and now we were ready to head out to the Gibson Ranch Park.
MEETING THE PONY AT JB RANCH
I have photographed many families, and children portraits with their pets included. We believe that pets give these images a particularly personal touch and a sense of completeness. You can read more about our ideas on pets photography in 7 Best Pet Photography Tips. This was my first time photographing someone with a pony, and I must admit I was pretty excited about it!
When we came to the JB Ranch, we found out that we could pick any pony or two to have a photoshoot with. It didn’t take us long to notice that we were all drawn to one beautiful and unique mini pony named Cody. He had the perfect color of the fur, his mane and tail were so clean and puffy, and Daniella just fell in love with him at first sight!
SPRING PHOTOSHOOT WITH THE PONY
After mom Natasha put on a special pony rider outfit on Daniella, it felt as if I’m photographing some little professional actress! Daniella was very gentle with the pony and so natural in front of the camera. This made my job as a children portrait photographer super fun.
The second part of this child photo session took place right at the JB Ranch. We created so many gorgeous images with many different and unique backdrops.
Since photoshoot was during springtime, the weather was sunny and marvelous. There was a lot of sunshine and green grass around. Daniella had a fun time feeding her pony Cody with some fresh grass, and I think he appreciated it!
There’s nothing more special than to watch kids interacting with their surroundings, nature, animals, and showing them care and respect. These beautiful childhood moments should be treasured, adored, captured, and remembered!
