ABOUT THE SESSION
Having photographed the Rode family in the past, I was delighted when they contacted our studio to inquire about a session for their family and two dogs. Their daughter just lost her first baby tooth, and they wanted to document this milestone of hers, along with full family portraits. Both parents work in the dentistry field, and I understood how much they value these moments in time.
Having children of my own that are the same age, I knew how special this milestone is for families. We started planning the perfect family portrait session for this beautiful family.
One of the main steps for outdoor family photography is to find the best location for portraits. After looking through different options, we decided on William B. Pond Park by the American River that is in Sacramento, California.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PHOTO LOCATIONS
The American River Parkway is one of my ideal family photography locations, as it offers so much variation of natural backdrops. From the greenery and the trees to little creeks and cooling river water, this place is just magical for any Sacramento family photographer.
Granted that summers get very hot in California, it’s always a good idea to photograph by the water. Locations like this help cool you down and give a chance for more fun and creative family portraits!
PREPARING FOR THE SESSION
The theme of the William B. Pond park family photo session was relaxed country style. The Rode family prepared well with their outfits and props, with the help of Outfit Ideas for Family Pictures.
Mom and daughter wore beautiful white dresses, the father and son wore neutral tone outfits that complemented their Sacramento family photography session by the American River.
